What is woven ground cover?

woven ground cover is a black polyester ‘technical fabric’ used primarily to prevent weed growth. A key feature of woven ground cover is that it allows water to pass through but blocks out virtually all light. All the woven ground cover in our range is supplied on rolls of 100 or 500 metres in various widths and thicknesses. We supply widths ranging from 0.50 metres up to 5.25 metres. Most of our woven ground cover are available in 100 grams/m² and 150 grams/m². We often find in the market that the stated weights do not match the actual weight. With us, you definitely get what you pay for. So, woven ground cover rated at 100 grams/m² really is 100 grams per m². 

Applications of woven ground cover

FVR-Trading’s woven ground cover is used for many different purposes. It is often used in gardens to prevent the growth of weeds. It can be laid under gravel, chippings or wood chips, but also under paving. Thanks to our competitive prices, excellent service and large stock, FVR-Trading is attracting not only private customers but also an increasing number of market gardeners, landscapers and other business clients. 

As well as standard sizes, we can also have woven ground cover sewn together to custom sizes. Almost anything is possible here. Ground cover pegs

To secure the woven ground cover (or, for example, artificial grass) to the ground, you use metal ground cover pegs or ground peggs. These ground cover pegs ensure that the woven ground cover cannot be blown away or come loose. These ground cover pegs are suitable for both hard and soft ground. We supply them as standard in lengths of 20 and 30 cm. 

Checkered pattern woven ground cover

We now supply our woven ground cover as standard with a 25x25 cm diamond pattern. On the 100-gram fabric, the lines of these diamonds are green; on the 150-gram fabric, they are red. If you would like fabric in other colours or with a different diamond pattern, please get in touch to discuss the options.

Woven ground cover: 100 g/m² or 150 g/m²?

For light-duty or decorative purposes, we recommend the 100 g/m² version. ‘Light-duty’ refers to weeds with weak or slow growth, and where the fabric will be subjected to light foot traffic (for example, under a footpath).
